An automotive interior heat shield that actually works to stop both heat and sound. We have engineered our db Headliner Kit to help prevent a vehicle’s interior from feeling like an oven and to make the drive quieter.
The roof on most vehicles is metal. As the sun heats it, that heat is transferred into the vehicle’s interior. This is one of the reasons why a parked car in the sun turns into an oven during the day, and opening the door is like opening the hatch on a blast furnace. If the vehicle is without air conditioning, it can take a while with the windows down for the interior to cool off. On the noise side, that big piece of metal can resonate from vibrations running through the body, or from the impact of rain. Together or by themselves, these things make for a less enjoyable ride.
The db Headliner Kit comes with specially developed and trademarked thermal and acoustic barriers. It includes our db Skin™ which is a lightweight liquid acoustic-barrier material to dampen the resonance of the roof for a quieter ride. It also includes our Stealth Shield™, which is a thermal-barrier material that blocks the transfer of heat from the roof to the interior. This can be a significant improvement for classic vehicles without air conditioning, especially during summer cruising and show months. For vehicles with air conditioning, a cooler interior means the A/C won’t have to work as hard, and it will be more efficient. Stealth Shield and db Skin add minimal weight, so there are no adverse vehicle performance effects, as opposed to stick-on thermal and acoustic barrier sheets, which add significant weight above the vehicle’s center of gravity. The easy-to-install db Headliner Kit requires only a basic paint brush or roller and a high-quality spray adhesive.
